Join your fellow vmuggers for a night out with Rochester VMUG and Splunk. The November vBeer social event will be held on November 17th from 5:30 pm - until we go home at the Roc Brewing Co. We will be touring the brewery and drinking some great local beers. 

Roc Brewing Co., LLC in 2011 was one of the first brewery to hit the growing Rochester brewing scene and in June of 2016 celebrated its five year anniversary. Roc's ferociously loyal following of drinkers led it to begin canning its beers in 2015, achieving distribution throughout Rochester and Western New York. The brewery's journey started in 2011, the product of Rochester Institute of Technology classmates Jon Mervine and Chris Spinelli. They began homebrewing together before finally going all in on a brewery. The duo were accepted into Samuel Adams' Brewing the American Dream program. It was not only an opportunity to learn from the nation's pioneering craft brewery and receive coaching from owner Jim Koch, but provided the duo a loan to launch Roc Brewing.

We had a great turnout to our October event. We gave away some beer mugs from both VMUG and Tintri and Tintri gave away a $100.00 gift card. 

The atmosphere at Victoire was nice with some good beer selections and food. We had duck wings which were out of this world good along with pretzels with cheese dip and so much more.  This was by far one of our best turnouts for the vBeer events.

We had a great turnout and a lot of fun hanging out at Swillburger with Palo Alto. Swillburger is a spinoff of Dave & Busters but more retro. The beer selection was excellent and there was plenty of it. I had the Smuttynose Ol' Grundy Humpe Barleywine which although the name is long the beer was very tasty. Swillburger converted an old church into this exciting new place and did a great job. They have good burgers along with plenty of sides to choose from. I look forward to my next visit. 

The local Rochester VMUG group will be hosting its August vBeer social get together on the 18th. These social events will continue to take place on the third thursday of each month from 5:30 pm until we go home. Each month we will choose a new location.

The August vBeer gathering will be held at Swiftwater Brewing Company located in the South Wedge of Rochester. Their vision is to create a space where affordable, finely-crafted food and drink accent an atmosphere of camaraderie and fellowship.

The South Wedge brewery has shown a willingness to experiment, allowing the drinking public to experience some new styles. Swiftwater Brewing has produced a Belgian Patersbier and has made 10 different single hop India pale ales to highlight the unique nature of different hop varietals?

This will be a unique experience and a great time socializing with your fellow vmuggers.

We had a great night out at SwiftWater Brewing Co. in Rochester. They have a unique selection of beers that you will not find anywhere else. 

For those that enjoy the fruit infused flavors I would suggest trying their Equinox Pale Ale. The Dubbel is a caramel, raisin and brown sugar beer that sounded like oatmeal but tasted great. Finally, the Coffee Triple was just that a coffee infused beer that would pair great with breakfast foods. Of course I am not saying you should wake up and start to drink but, hey it's 5 o'clock somewhere right?

We had a great night of fun and socializing with other VMUG members and Zerto at our first of many monthly vBeer events. We were given a tour of the new Three Heads Brewing in Rochester, NY. I think that everyone agreed that the beer is much better now that they have 100% control over the brew process. The venue was nice with a stage for live music and a large outdoor area to hangout. contract brewed its beer at Honeoye Falls' CB Craft Brewers. 3HB comes up with the recipes, while CB produces and packages the beer. That is no longer the case and in partnering with FSI General Contractors, 3HB now has its own brewery.
